Gov’t Administration Head: Georgia advances across international indices, with systemic government reforms bearing fruit
“Georgia has made serious headway across international indices, progress that is the direct result of the systemic decisions taken by the government in preceding years, and which will continue to be reflected in future rankings,” said Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Georgian Government Administration, speaking on the Business Insider Georgia programme.
According to Zhorzholiani, international indices serve as a guiding compass for investors and are of considerable importance in attracting foreign direct investment.
“In terms of international indices, 2025 was a successful year. A great many independent research organisations assess countries by indices of economic freedom, freedom from corruption, human rights, and the rule of law, and we have made serious progress across the board. This is the result of the systemic decisions the government made in previous years, now reflected in the rankings.
For investors, indices act as a guide to the rules of the game in a particular country, indicating whether economic stability is present and how efficiently the bureaucracy operates. This is no less important for attracting foreign direct investment. One of the areas in which we have seen the most marked improvement is freedom from corruption. The anti-corruption reforms we have undertaken are being captured in various studies and are feeding through into the indices, with the result that our country now finds itself amongst those leading nations of which we can say with confidence that the bureaucracy operates with integrity,” said Levan Zhorzholiani.
