Government considers amendments to Law on Highlands, aimed at the improvement of social conditions of rural population along the occupation line

“Law of Georgia on Highlands will be yet another effective step towards state support of our rural population living in special conditions” – stated Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Executive Government Meeting today.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, amendments to the Law of Georgia on Highlands affecting 58 villages of the country will be considered by the Cabinet Members at the Executive Government Meeting today.

“We will be considering amendments to the Law of Georgia on Highlands, which is predominantly aimed at the improvement of social conditions of the rural population along the occupation line. The law applies to 58 villages and almost 25 000 citizens of Georgia. The main aim of the law is to improve their social conditions. It was our pledge as well and we are delivering on our promise” – noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
