The 30th session of the Temporary Government Commission on supporting conflict-affected populations living in villages adjacent to the dividing line was held today, co-chaired by Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze and State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani.

According to the State Minister’s Office, the commission reviewed its 2025 activity report and evaluated measures to assist communities along the occupation line. Members approved winter heating subsidies for residents and confirmed that higher education funding for local students will continue through the 2026–2027 academic year.

Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze stressed that addressing local needs along the dividing line promptly and effectively remains the commission’s chief priority, alongside improving living standards and social welfare. He also pointed to infrastructure works, social programs, and support measures delivered in 2025, confirming they will run through 2026.

State Minister Tea Akhvlediani underscored the crucial need to support conflict-affected communities along the occupation line and praised the commission’s ongoing efforts. She noted that empowering these communities socio-economically serves as a direct message to those living in the occupied regions, demonstrating the Georgian government’s people-centred policy in action.

“Supporting the conflict-affected population living near the dividing lines, driving regional development, and fostering socio-economic empowerment remain among our paramount priorities. To this end, we maintain a unified effort within the inter-agency government commission through coordinated engagement with line ministries and local authorities. At today’s session, we summarised last year’s performance, examined current local needs, and discussed ways to address them. Once again this year, we have adopted key decisions concerning both winter heating assistance and higher education support for students,” State Minister Tea Akhvlediani stated.
