Police arrest suspect in Marneuli over large-scale fraud

Police in Marneuli have arrested one individual on charges of committing large-scale fraud.

The investigation revealed that the suspect took building materials valued at GEL 45,870 from the owner of a hardware store in the Marneuli Municipality under the pretence that payment would be remitted later. However, the accused failed to fulfil the promise and fraudulently misappropriated the materials.

Law enforcement officers detained the suspect based on a judge’s warrant.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 180, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a sentence of up to nine years in prison.
