Government announces cash prizes for achieving sports excellence
Outstanding athletes will be rewarded with monetary prizes in recognition of their achievements across various sports by decree of the Government of Georgia.
Vakhtang Lolua, a member of the Georgian national team in Greco-Roman wrestling, will be awarded GEL 85,000 for securing first place at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships. The Government Administration also informed that, in addition, the athlete will receive an extra cash prize of GEL 65,000.
Furthermore, according to the decree approved by the Government at today’s session, Temur Samkharadze, a member of the Georgian national powerlifting team, will be awarded GEL 40,000 for winning first place in the powerlifting competition at the 2025 World Games.
The members of the Georgian national team who secured first place in the team championship at the 2025 European Para-Judo Championship will receive a cash prize of GEL 102,000, along with an additional award of GEL 98,000.
The players, coaches, medical staff, and administrative personnel of the Georgian national team will be granted a total cash prize of GEL 595,000 for their outstanding performance in the final tournament of the 2025 European Basketball Championship, along with an extra sum of GEL 2,405,000.
The Georgian national futsal team, for qualifying for the final tournament of the 2026 European Futsal Championship, will be awarded GEL 500,000.
According to the statement from the Government Administration, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze signed the decree.
