Gogita Todradze has been reappointed for a new term as Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), having been selected for the position through a competitive process.
The competition was conducted by a commission established under Georgian Government Decree No. 110 of 16 March 2026. Following its assessment of candidates, the commission selected Todradze and submitted his candidacy to the Prime Minister for formal appointment.
Todradze has served as Executive Director of Geostat since 2018. He holds higher education qualifications in Economics (Statistics) and Law from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and has carried the academic degree of Doctor of Economics since 2006.
Gogita Todradze brings nearly 25 years of experience at GeoStat, having begun his career there in 2002 as an economist in the Population Census Division. Over the years, he has served as Deputy Head of the Social Infrastructure Division and as both Deputy Head and Head of the Tbilisi Statistics Division. Todradze led the Business Statistics Department from 2006 to 2016, then served as Deputy Executive Director from 2016 to 2018, and has been the Executive Director since 2018.
Todradze is an active figure in international statistical work. Since 2017, he has participated in expert working groups of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). From 2019 to 2022, he served as a member of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC).
In 2018, Todradze was elected to the Bureau of the Statistical Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and he subsequently served as Chair of the Bureau from 2020 to 2022. Since June 2025, he has been a Bureau member and Vice-President of the UNECE Conference of European Statisticians (CES), and in September 2025, he was elected a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
In addition to his institutional work, Todradze has 15 years of uninterrupted teaching experience. Since 2009, he has lectured in statistics at various higher education institutions. From 2017, he has been an Associate Professor at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), and since 2022, a Full Professor at Caucasus International University.
The Prime Minister of Georgia appoints the GeoStat Executive Director for a four-year term. Todradze will assume his new term of office on May 3, 2026.
