“The commission reviewed the current circumstances and decided to keep consumer tariffs unchanged,” said David Narmania, Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (GNERC).
According to Narmania, the existing tariffs will remain in effect for a period of three months.
“Consumer tariffs consist of two components: the electricity distribution tariff and the energy tariff itself. The decision to maintain the current tariffs was based on the fact that the volumes of energy expected from various generation facilities in the next period have yet to be fully specified. Receiving these parameters in a clear form is essential for the commission to make accurate calculations. Additionally, the company Energo-Pro indicated the possibility of minor adjustments to their proposed investment plan.
Taking these factors into account and exercising the authority granted to us, we have kept the current tariffs unchanged temporarily for three months.
After this period, updates will be provided, as companies clarify their data and energy balances. The commission will continue to calculate tariffs based on the established methodology,” Narmania added.
