“The Georgian Dream party is failing to repair its relationship with the United States and will soon move from criticism to outright insults,” according to Iago Khvichia, one of the leaders of the Girchi opposition party.
Khvichia claims that “before Georgian Dream begins openly insulting American officials, the party wants to convince its voters that they approached the Americans as representatives of a free and sovereign nation.”
“This document isn’t intended for American readers at all. It’s targeted at Georgian voters, not at Americans who might review it carefully,” Khvichia said.
He added: “It would be beneficial for them if they could improve relations with America and have Trump embrace Georgian Dream as it is, but since this isn’t working out, Georgian Dream has taken a direction toward criticizing Americans, and soon they’ll move on to insults.”
The Georgian Parliament today adopted a comprehensive statement condemning the Mobilising and Enhancing Georgia’s Options for Building Accountability, Resilience, and Independence Act or the MEGOBARI Act, with an overwhelming 87 votes in favour and no opposition.
