Giorgi Margvelashvili meets with Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates

Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili discussed the issues of Georgia’s investment potential, development of trade economic relations, tourism and agriculture at the meeting with Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates in Dubai.

According to the Presidential Administration, the President noted that it is very significant for Georgia to deepening relations with the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and its member states, especially in the field of trade and economic co-operation.

According to Giorgi Margvelashvili, Georgian authorities highly appreciate that the United Arab Emirates made significant investments in Georgia in the last decade and is looking forward to developing cooperation in this direction. The volume of investments was 841.08 million usd in 2006 – 2017.

The sides discussed the possibility of signing a free trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates and talked about the investment promotion agreement, which entered into force on April 8.

It was noted that liberal, stable, safe and corruption-free business environment has been created in Georgia as a result of reforms and that Georgia is a very attractive country in terms of its geographical location.

The Georgian delegation includes the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili, Head of the Presidential Administration Giorgi Abashishvili, Secretary of the National Security Council Davit Rakviashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgi Sharvashidze, Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs Tengiz Pkhaladze and Ambassador of Georgia to the United Arab Emirates Roland Beridze.
