“The president’s legitimacy does not come from attributes like the building but from the trust of the people. Reducing the protest to matters of leaving the building, staying there, or physically protecting the residence undermines its value,” wrote Giorgi Gakharia, leader of Gakharia for Georgia, on social media.

According to Gakharia, the people on Rustaveli Street are defending far greater and more significant values, which is why the protest remains successful.

“We must focus on the people, their belief in victory, and unity around the protest’s goals and values to ensure its true inclusiveness.
Unconditionally release all unlawfully detained political prisoners!
Announce a concrete date for new elections without delay!” Gakharia added.
