GFTN Co-Founder: Georgian market is the future of financial technology

“We are delighted to be a part of the Tbilisi Finance Summit. This is GFTN’s first partnership in this part of the world. We are partners with the National Bank of Georgia and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development,” said Sopnendu Mohanty, Co-Founder and Group CEO of the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), a global advisory and investment firm.

According to Sopnendu Mohanty, the Georgian market is the future of financial technology.

“We are quite excited because this market is the future of FinTech, or as I call it, a new market where the future of FinTech can be expanded. We are quite pleased to be here, particularly at the Central Bank of Georgia. What you have done is so good in the space of FinTech, especially under Governor Natia’s leadership. She has been tremendous and is an inspiration. The way she thinks about the future of finance and the idea of a technology-driven future of finance is remarkable.

So, GFTN, together with Singapore’s FinTech, sees an opportunity for Georgia in this part of the world, and with the forward-looking thinking of the Central Bank of Georgia, we believe this is the best partnership we can have, especially in this region as we think of the future of finance and the middle corridor.

I am looking forward to it. There will be a lot of discussions between the private sector, the public sector, and technology like AI, tokens, and other emerging innovations. We will discuss policies, regulations, and market opportunities. I am looking forward to it and to seeing you in Tbilisi very soon,” he said.

For the first time, the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum will feature the Tbilisi Finance Summit on October 23, organised by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development in partnership with the National Bank of Georgia and Singapore-based Global Finance and Technology Network (GFTN).
