German Minister of State for Europe condemns recent events in Georgia, affirms support for citizens

“Recent developments in Georgia are deeply disappointing in terms of the European approach,” stated Germany’s Minister of State for Europe Gunther Krichbaum.

He emphasised that the actions taken by the Georgian government are unacceptable, and that all options are currently under consideration.

“Of course, all options are on the table. The recent events in Georgia are very disheartening from a European perspective. We stand with the citizens and support them, but the actions of the government are unacceptable. As I mentioned, we are exploring all possible responses,” Krichbaum added.

The EU Foreign Affairs Council is convening in Luxembourg today, chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. The primary topics on the agenda for the EU foreign ministers include the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, developments in Moldova, the EU’s relations with the Indo-Pacific region, and the situation in Sudan. A press conference will be held at the conclusion of the meeting, scheduled for 16:45 Tbilisi time.
