German Embassy reports on suspended projects

The German Embassy in Georgia released information about the decision of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development on the suspension of projects with Georgia worth €237 million.

“This is a response of Minister Svenja Schulze to Georgia’s swerving from the EU path and use of violence against pro-European demonstrators,” reads the statement.

The suspended projects include stopped finance of green hydrogen, energy grid, and water infrastructure Batumi.

The Embassy noted that Georgian authorities continue systemic violation of human rights in an attempt to stop mass protests. The Embassy underscores that support for civil society and the rule of law stays.

“Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze called on the Georgian authorities to stop violence against its population and return to the EU integration path as endorsed by the Georgian Constitution,” reads the statement.
