According to the National Statistics Service (GeoStat), Georgia’s inflation rate in September 2025 stood at 0.5 per cent compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate was recorded at 4.8 per cent.
Regarding core inflation, this indicator reached 2.4 per cent in September 2025 compared to the same period last year. Excluding tobacco, the annual core inflation rate was slightly lower, at 2.1 per cent.
The monthly inflation rate was primarily driven by price changes in the following groups:
Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: Prices in this category increased by 1.4 per cent, contributing 0.44 percentage points to the monthly inflation. The following subgroups saw price rises: milk, cheese and eggs (3.4 per cent); oil and fats (2.4 per cent); vegetables and fruits (2.3 per cent); sugar, jam and other confectionery (1.6 per cent); coffee, tea and cocoa (1.4 per cent); meat and meat products (1.0 per cent); and bread and bakery products (0.5 per cent). Conversely, prices decreased in the subgroups of fruits and grapes (-0.7%), mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages, and natural juices (-0.3 %).
Clothing and Footwear: Prices in this category rose by 4.2 per cent, adding 0.19 percentage points to the monthly inflation. Price increases were observed in both subgroups: clothing (4.9%) and footwear (2.9%).
Education: Prices increased by 2.6 per cent, contributing 0.15 percentage points to the overall monthly inflation. A notable rise was observed in preschool and primary education (10.4%), education of unspecified levels (8.2%), secondary education (3.5%), and higher education (0.6%).
Communication: Prices in this group declined by 4.7 per cent, which contributed a negative 0.15 percentage points to the monthly inflation,” the report from GeoStat states.
