GeoStat reports criminal proceedings initiated against 2,009 individuals in August
In August 2025, criminal proceedings were initiated against 2,009 individuals, of whom 107 had committed offences prior to the completion of their probationary periods, accounting for 5.3 per cent of those prosecuted, the National Statistics Service (GeoStat) reported.
The highest rates of criminal prosecution were observed in Tbilisi with 595 cases, followed by Adjara with 323, and the occupied Abkhazia region with 21 cases.
The cases brought under the Criminal Code of Georgia are distributed as follows: burglary – 254 cases; menacing – 254; family violence – 196; assault – 187; rape – 6; depravity – 4; fraud – 41; illegal possession and purchase of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances – 478; cultivation of narcotic plants – 175; and production of counterfeit documents – 74.
