GeoStat: Kyrgyzstan emerges as Georgia’s top export destination as motor vehicles dominate trade in Jan–Aug 2026
According to figures released by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), Kyrgyzstan secured the top spot among Georgia’s export markets in the first eight months of 2026, while Türkiye maintained its position as the leading exporter to the country.
Between January and August 2026, Georgia’s top ten export partners made up 68.8% of the country’s total export value. Kyrgyzstan was the largest market, bringing in USD 577.6 million, ahead of China (USD 543.7 million) and Russia (USD 500.7 million) in second and third places, respectively.
On the import side, the top ten trading partners accounted for 70.2% of total domestic imports during the same period. Türkiye ranked as the leading supplier with USD 1,918.6 million, followed by Russia with USD 1,531.8 million, and the United States with USD 1,510.5 million.
In terms of commodity breakdowns, motor vehicles topped the export list, generating $1,347.7 million and accounting for 24.9% of total national exports. Petroleum and petroleum products ranked second at $688.9 million, while precious metal ores and concentrates placed third at $403.1 million.
Motor vehicles also represented Georgia’s largest import commodity group between January and August 2026, totalling $2,364.3 million (18.9% of total imports). Petroleum and petroleum products followed in second place with $1,164.7 million, with packaged medicaments forming the third-largest import category at $468.4 million.
