GeoStat: International travellers spent GEL 3.5 billion in Georgia in Q2 2025

According to the National Statistics Service (GeoStat), in the second quarter of 2025, Georgia welcomed 1.8 million international non-resident travellers, an increase of 6.9 per cent compared to the same period last year. The majority of arrivals, 44.2 per cent, were travellers aged 31-50.

GeoStat reports that the total number of visits by international visitors reached 1.6 million, reflecting a 7.0 per cent rise from the second quarter of 2024.

During this period, the number of international visitors reached 1.4 million, an 8.1 per cent increase year-on-year. Of these, 1.3 million were classified as tourist visits, marking a 10.7 per cent rise compared to the same quarter last year. Notably, 80.1 per cent of international visitors were solely tourists, while 15.8 per cent were excursionists, and 4.2 per cent fell into both categories.

GeoStat further reports that the largest share of visitors originated from Russia, accounting for 22.4 per cent of total arrivals with 309.4 thousand visitors. Turkiye followed with 17.6 per cent, and Armenia with 10.8 per cent. Citizens from Russia made the most visits, 361.8 thousand, while Turkiye and Armenia recorded 308.3 thousand and 210 thousand visits, respectively. The predominant age group was 31-50 years, comprising 46.5 per cent of visitors, with women making up 41.8 per cent of the total.

In terms of purpose, nearly half (49.4 per cent) of visits were for leisure, entertainment, and recreation. The most visited destinations were Tbilisi and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, with 928.3 thousand and 629.8 thousand visits, respectively.

Additionally, the report indicates that the average length of stay during these visits was 5.30 nights, an increase of 4.7 per cent compared to the second quarter of 2024 (5.06 nights). Repeat visits accounted for 78.1 per cent of all trips.

Total expenditures during this period amounted to GEL 3.5 billion, representing a modest increase of 0.6 per cent from the same period last year. However, the average expenditure per visit decreased by 6.0 per cent, reaching GEL 2,116.8.
