GeoStat: Inflation calculated using EU methodology reaches 4.6% in March

Since 2022, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat) has begun publishing a new indicator: the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).

According to GeoStat, using this methodology, inflation in March 2026 stood at 4.6%, which is 0.3 percentage points higher than the 4.3% inflation calculated under the national methodology.

Regarding individual components, the percentage changes compared to the same period in 2025, as per the EU HICP methodology, are as follows: Food and non-alcoholic beverages – 6.0%; Alcoholic beverages and tobacco – 5.5%; Clothing and footwear – -2.2%; Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other heating – 0.7%; Furniture, household goods, and decoration, along with home maintenance and repair – -3.3%; Health – 4.2%; Transport – -4.8%; Information and communication – -4.9%; Recreation, sports, and culture – 5.5%; Education – 2.5%; Restaurants and overnight accommodation – 8.1%; Insurance and financial services – 2.4%; Personal hygiene, social protection, and various goods – 14.2%.
