According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), Georgia recorded a total of 37,867 live births in 2025, comprising 19,856 boys and 18,011 girls. This represents a 4.1% decrease compared to the previous year.
The highest number of births was registered in Tbilisi, with 14,334 children, while the lowest was in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions, with just 191 births.
GeoStat reports that, of the total live births in 2025, the proportion of first-born children increased slightly from 35.9% in 2024 to 36.6%. Conversely, the share of second children decreased to 32.9 per cent, while the proportion of third and subsequent children remained relatively stable at 29.1 per cent.
Furthermore, the report highlights demographic shifts; the proportion of children born to mothers under 25 declined from 23.2% to 21.9%. Meanwhile, the share of mothers aged 25–39 rose from 69.5 per cent to 70.4 per cent, and there was a slight increase among mothers aged 40 and older, from 7.3% to 7.7%.
In 2025, the average age of mothers at the birth of their first child was estimated at 27.4 years.
