GeoStat: Business sector turnover rises 12.8% year-on-year to reach 70 billion lari in Q4 2025
According to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), business sector turnover grew by 12.8% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, reaching 70.0 billion lari.
Output figures for the business sector likewise demonstrated an upward trend. Total output in Q4 2025 was recorded at 27.2 billion lari, representing a 15.5% increase on the same period of the previous year.
GeoStat reports that of the total business sector turnover in Q4 2025, 67.4% was accounted for by large enterprises, 14.7% by medium-sized enterprises, and 17.9% by small businesses. The distribution of total output differed somewhat: large enterprises accounted for 43.6%, medium-sized enterprises for 24.9%, and small businesses for 31.5%.
Total purchases of goods and services by enterprises in Q4 2025 amounted to 35.6 billion lari, up 7.2% on the same period of the previous year, whilst purchases of goods and services intended for resale stood at 20.2 billion lari, exceeding the corresponding prior-year figure by 7.0%.
The average number of persons employed in the business sector during the reporting period was 839,200, a 3.4% rise on the corresponding period of the previous year. Of the total workforce, 43.3% were women and 56.7% were men. Large enterprises accounted for 41.4% of total employment, medium-sized enterprises for 19.4%, and small businesses for 39.2%. The total number of hired employees stood at 782,800 — up 2.4% year-on-year — whilst total enterprise expenditure on personnel amounted to 6,260.3 million lari, exceeding the prior-year figure by 13.1%.
According to GeoStat, the average monthly salary of hired employees in the business sector in Q4 2025 stood at 2,608.4 lari, an increase of 241.3 lari on the same period of the previous year; the average monthly salary for women was 1,998.0 lari. By enterprise size, average monthly salaries were as follows: large businesses — 2,743.7 lari; medium-sized businesses — 3,084.9 lari; small businesses — 2,152.2 lari.
In terms of the sectoral composition of business turnover in Q4 2025, the largest share — 35.9% — was attributable to arts, entertainment, and recreation, followed by trade at 32.9%, manufacturing at 7.3%, construction at 6.4%, transport and storage at 4.5%, and information and communication at 3.3%, with the remaining 9.7% distributed across other sectors.
In terms of output, the top five sectors during the reporting period were manufacturing (18.6%), trade (18.5%), construction (18.5%), transport and storage (9.3%), and information and communication (8.4%), with all remaining sectors collectively accounting for 26.6%.
By number of employees, the leading sectors in the business sector during Q4 2025 were trade (29.0%), manufacturing (11.1%), and human health and social work activities (8.9%).
