European Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi sent a letter to civil society organizations that had previously addressed him regarding Georgia’s European perspective.

As stated by the Commissioner, the European Union values Georgian civil society’s participation in monitoring the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement.

“The European Council granted Georgia a European perspective on June 23-24, 2022. Following this decision, the Commission has been closely monitoring Georgia’s progress in implementing the 12 priorities and contributing to resolving Georgia’s primary concerns as swiftly and efficiently as possible.

At the same time, as with all enlargement countries, the pace of progress on the EU path depends on implementing essential reforms. The Commission will verbally update the Council on Georgia’s fulfillment of the 12 points in the spring of 2023. A formal report on the implementation of the priorities will be included in the Commission’s annual enlargement package in the autumn,” reads the Commissioner’s letter.
