Georgia's PM signs French-initiated coalition against global drug trafficking declaration
Georgia has joined France’s initiative to establish a European coalition against global drug trafficking. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze signed the declaration.
The Prime Minister, alongside leaders from various nations, participated in the event held in Copenhagen as part of the 7th Summit of the European Political Community (EPC). French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni co-chaired a high-level meeting to strengthen the coalition against global drug trafficking.
During his address, Kobakhidze emphasised Georgia’s firm stance on drug prevention and control. He highlighted that Georgian law enforcement agencies have recently confiscated a significant quantity of narcotics and arrested dozens of major drug traffickers over the past few months.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of international cooperation and collective efforts among world leaders in the fight against drugs. He described France’s initiative to forge a European coalition as a crucial and progressive step forward in this ongoing battle.
