“The official visit of Chinese Vice President Han Zheng marks a major milestone in strengthening relations between Beijing and Tbilisi,” Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili told reporters on Friday.

Botchorishvili emphasised that the recent elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership holds substantial geopolitical and economic value not only for Georgia, but for the wider region.

“This is the first time a Chinese official of this rank has visited Georgia. It offers an exceptional opportunity to review bilateral relations at the highest level and explore untapped potential for deeper cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere. Strengthening ties across multiple sectors will yield significant benefits for both Georgia and the broader Caucasus region,” Botchorishvili noted.

During the visit, the Chinese Vice President is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President Mikheil Kavelashvili. Han Zheng will also meet with members of the Georgian business community.

“A key component of this high-level itinerary includes discussions with business leaders to explore emerging trade and investment avenues, which will contribute meaningfully to our expanding economic partnership,” Botchorishvili added.
