Georgian President: Georgia and Armenia continue to develop political, economic and people-to-people ties

“I am delighted to be hosting in Georgia the President of the Republic of Armenia, a friendly and strategic partner country, on an official visit. I remind you that this is our second meeting this year. On April 29, I was on an official visit to the Republic of Armenia. I wish to take today’s opportunity to once again publicly thank Mr President for his warm hospitality,” stated Georgia’s President, Mikheil Kavelashvili, at a press conference held jointly with Armenia’s President, Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Georgia’s President drew attention to the strategic partnership agreement formalised in 2024.

“It is gratifying that 2025 has proved particularly fruitful in terms of deepening the ties between our countries. The results achieved within the framework of our strategic partnership have clearly demonstrated the effectiveness and scale of our cooperation,” declared Mikheil Kavelashvili.

According to the President, the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries is exemplary.

“Georgia and Armenia have coexisted side by side in harmony for many centuries. The centuries-old relationship between our two countries, founded on mutual respect, trust and unshakeable friendship, has never been determined solely by geographical proximity. Most significant in this process is the convergence of values and shared vision that unite our peoples. The protection of state sovereignty, national identity and cultural distinctiveness represents a paramount priority for both Georgia and Armenia, creating an even stronger foundation for close partnership relations. The multifaceted cooperation between our two countries is truly exemplary. Alongside active bilateral relations, Georgia and Armenia also cooperate fruitfully on multilateral platforms,” declared Mikheil Kavelashvili.

Georgia’s President thanked his Armenian counterpart for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity.

“Particularly significant in this context is the unwavering support of the Armenian state regarding Georgia’s territorial integrity, for which I wish to thank your country, Mr President, on behalf of both myself and the Georgian people,” noted Mikheil Kavelashvili.

According to President Kavelashvili, Georgia and Armenia continue to develop political, economic and people-to-people ties against the backdrop of global tensions.

“During the meeting, I noted that, given the rapidly changing geopolitical situation, maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus is assuming ever greater importance. We continue to develop political, economic and people-to-people ties against the backdrop of existing global tensions,” declared Mikheil Kavelashvili.
