Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili congratulated Liz Truss on her selection as the new British prime minister.
In her tweet, the President said, “Good to see another woman leader in these crucial times that will work for security on our continent and a stronger transatlantic partnership. I look forward to working together to strengthen the relations.”
Truss, until now the U.K.’s foreign minister, defeated rival Rishi Sunak, the country’s former finance minister by securing 57% of the vote while Sunak achieved 42% of the vote.
In her tweet, Truss pledged to take “bold action to get all of us through these tough times.”
