Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, has thanked the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Executive Board. The head of the government called the augmentation of the current program with $200 mil a strong message for international donors.

“Grateful to K. Georgieva, IMF Executive Board & MCD Mission for VI Review and augmentation of the current program with $200 mil. It is a strong message for international donor community. Together we will combat the invisible enemy!,” Gakharia tweeted.

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund has approved US$200 million financing to Georgia to address the effects of the COVID19 pandemic.

According to the official Twitter page of the Fund, the Board also completed the 6th review for Georgia’s economic program. The above was responded by Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.

“We welcome Georgia’s efforts to increase health spending, strengthen social protection, and support businesses through the COVID19 pandemic and we are extending US$200 million emergency financing, approved by our Board today”, she tweeted.
