Georgian PM meets President of Turkiye in New York

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in New York.

The meeting underscored the high level of strategic partnership between Georgia and Türkiye and the successful cooperation across various fields.

According to the Government Administration, particular attention was paid to the positive dynamics of developing political and economic relations. It was noted that Türkiye remains Georgia’s largest trading partner.

The parties discussed joint strategic projects of regional significance, which make a major contribution to regional development and strengthening connectivity. In this context, the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which has entered full operation, was noted.

Cooperation in the transport and energy sectors was also discussed at the meeting.

The special importance of peace for the sustainable and stable development of the region was emphasized.

Following the meeting, Irakli Kobakhidze posted on the X Platform that the parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
