Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, hosted a one-on-one meeting with Aleksandar Vučić, President of the Republic of Serbia.
The PM emphasized the special significance of the first-ever presidential-level visit from Serbia to Georgia, noting that it would provide fresh momentum for the further development of bilateral relations.
The two leaders discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation across a wide range of sectors. It was noted that Serbia’s decision to open an embassy in Tbilisi would significantly strengthen political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Following the tête-à-tête meeting, the discussions continued in an expanded format with the participation of members of the governments of Georgia and Serbia.
The talks also focused on the ongoing negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Governments of Georgia and Serbia, which is expected to elevate bilateral economic relations to a new level. It was noted that, as an integral part of the Middle Corridor, Georgia is ready to deepen its partnership with Serbia, contributing to the full realization of the transit and trade potential linking Europe and Asia.
The parties also discussed Georgia’s European integration process. The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Georgia remains committed to implementing its agreements with the European Union (EU) and expressed hope that Serbia would continue to support Georgia’s path toward EU integration.
