Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev in Baku.
At the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev, the PM departed for Azerbaijan to take part in the Baku Economic Forum of the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) as an Honourable Guest.
At the meeting, Irakli Garibashvili and Ilham Aliyev focused on centuries-long friendly and neighbourly relations, accentuating strategic partnerships in trade, energy, transport, and logistics.
They spoke about Georgia-Azerbaijani joint projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project, the Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable project, and the Middle Corridor project development prospects that would strengthen the transport potential of the two countries.
The PM and President of Azerbaijan also reviewed regional and global security issues. The PM hoped that Azerbaijan would sign a peaceful agreement with Armenia soon.
