Georgian Patriarch addressed Russian patriarch with letter

Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II addressed Russian Patriarch Kirill with request to assist the Georgian side in repatriation of body of Archil Tatunashvili, Georgian citizen who died in the occupied South Ossetian region.

“Your Holiness, we acknowledge that resolution of the issue is out of your competence. But, please use your high authority and mediate with relevant body. This will be out console and big assistance both for the family and whole Georgian society,” reads the letter.

According to Lasha Zhvania, Head of Patriarch’s Fund said that the Georgian church would use all available resources. Zhvania made this statement after the meeting held between Tatunashvili’s family members and Patriarch at Georgia’s Patriarchate on March 1.
