Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan.

According to the Parliament, both sides highlighted that the relations between the governments, parliaments, and peoples of Georgia and Armenia remain strong. This was reflected in the elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic level last year.

“Shalva Papuashvili emphasised the positive momentum generated by high-level visits, which underscores the close and active relationship between the two countries.

The discussion also focused on the vibrant and productive parliamentary cooperation, including exchanges between chairmen, committees, and friendship groups.

The meeting further addressed recent regional developments. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the peace agreement initiated in Washington between Armenia and Azerbaijan has already produced several tangible results, with negotiations ongoing towards the finalisation and signing of the accord. He also highlighted the positive progress in Armenia-Türkiye relations. The participants agreed that the period of tension in the South Caucasus has come to an end, ushering in a new era of opportunities that promise significant benefits for the region.

Attending the meeting were also the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Armenia, Giorgi Volski, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, along with members of the Friendship Group with Armenia, Samvel Manukyan and Sumbat Kyureghyan,” the statement concluded.
