The Holy Synod of the Georgian Patriarchate is to meet today at the invitation of the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, His Eminence Metropolitan Shio. The Patriarchate’s public relations office announced the session two days ago.
“On April 3 of this year, at 12:00, a session of the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church will be convened at the invitation of the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri) of Senaki and Chkhorotsku.
The purpose of the session is to address organisational matters not provided for under the statutes governing the Georgian Orthodox Church, among them, further details concerning subsequent Synod sessions and the expanded council, the venue for the council’s proceedings, the procedure for summoning delegates, and other necessary arrangements,” the statement reads.
