Georgian Interior Ministry detain 12 international fugitives in joint operation with Turkey

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in collaboration with Turkish counterparts, has apprehended 12 individuals wanted by Turkish law enforcement agencies. The arrests were announced today by Irakli Dondoladze, Deputy Director of the Central Criminal Police Department, during a press briefing.

According to Dondoladze, all 12 suspects were listed under Interpol Red Notices and are accused of committing grave crimes. Among the charges are: Premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances – including the killing of a minor; Attempted murder and armed robbery; Illegal deprivation of liberty and grievous bodily harm; Formation and membership in organized criminal groups; Extortion, theft, and illegal possession and carrying of firearms; Drug-related offenses, document forgery, and large-scale investment fraud involving 178 separate incidents; Entry into Georgia and Legal Proceedings.

“Investigations revealed that eight of the detainees entered Georgia prior to the issuance of international warrants, while the remaining four crossed the border illegally. Legal proceedings are now underway, including pre-extradition protocols in accordance with Georgian law,” Dondoladze stated.
