Georgian Interior Minister participates in international forum on combating transnational drug threats

During his official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze took part in the international forum titled “Combating Transnational Drug Threats: Health, Security and Sustainable Development.”

The forum was held in Samarkand and was organised by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan.

According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, discussions centred on the emerging challenges and evolving trends in illicit drug trafficking. Special emphasis was placed on the vital importance of strengthening international cooperation to address this pressing issue.

The event featured a high-level plenary session alongside specialised thematic discussions, attended by senior officials from various countries, leading experts in the field, and representatives from prominent international and regional organisations, including the OSCE, UNODC, WHO, Interpol, Europol, the World Customs Organisation (WCO), and the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB).
