The Black Sea cable will be one of the flagship projects to continue expanding physical initiatives with the European Union in the future, stated Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, who is in Brussels for the Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers meeting.

Darchiashvili believes that the European Union will continue to promote such initiatives.

“One is our political integration and partnership with the European Union, and the other, no less important, is our physical integration with the EU,” the minister said, adding that “we hope for strong European Union engagement since this relationship is founded on shared benefits.”

According to the Minister, he discussed infrastructure projects with the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, at a meeting in Brussels.

“Infrastructure projects will broaden and deepen Georgia’s position, and we have good support in this area from the European Commissioner,” Ilia Darchiashvili said.
