Georgian FM met with J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, and other leaders at Winter Olympics opening
“During the event marking the opening of the Winter Olympic Games, we met with J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, and had the chance to speak with them, as well as with leaders from other countries,” said Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
According to her, numerous events take place as part of the Winter Olympics opening ceremony, with high-level delegations from various nations participating.
“The Winter Olympic Games are opening in Milan. A series of events takes place during the opening ceremony, featuring high-ranking representatives from numerous countries. The President of Georgia leads the Georgian delegation. Throughout these events, we had the opportunity to meet with leaders from different countries, including U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and to engage in discussions with them as well as other dignitaries,” said Maka Botchorishvili.
The Georgian Presidential Administration reports that President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili attended a reception hosted by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Kirsty Coventry. At this event, Kavelashvili and Botchorishvili met with leaders from various nations, including U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
For reference, the Georgian team will compete with eight athletes at the 2026 Olympic Games, six in figure skating and two in cross-country skiing.
