The XXV Olympic Winter Games are underway in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Olympic flame will be lit at San Siro Stadium in Milan. GPB First Channel will broadcast the opening ceremony live from 23:00.

A total of 116 medal events across 16 disciplines (eight sports) will feature at the 2026 Olympics. The programme has expanded significantly, promising the largest Winter Games in history. In comparison, the 2022 Olympics in Beijing showcased seven sports, with 15 disciplines and 109 medal events.

Eight athletes will represent the Georgian national team at the 2026 Games. Six will compete in figure skating, while two will take to the slopes in alpine skiing.

Georgia’s Olympic team includes:

Nika Egadze, Anastasia Gubanova, Luka Berulava, Anastasia Metelkina, Gleb Smolkin, Diana Davis (figure skating), Nino Tsiklauri, Luka Buchukuri (alpine skiing).

Georgia’s figure skating team is among the favourites. The pair of Anastasia Metelkina and Luka Berulava became European champions in January. Nika Egadze also secured a gold medal in the individual competition at the continental championships.

The team competition in figure skating will commence on February 6, 7, and 8. On the opening day, the Georgian team will perform their short programmes: Anastasia Metelkina and Luka Berulava will compete as a pair, Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin will perform their rhythmic dance, and Anastasia Gubanova will compete in her short programme. The events begin on February 6 at 12:55 Tbilisi time.
