Georgian diplomatic mission in Ukraine stays in place, Foreign Ministry says
Georgian Foreign Ministry said the Georgian diplomatic mission in Ukraine continues to work but recommended the Embassy staff to evacuate their family members from Kyiv.
“The head and staff of the Georgian diplomatic mission in Ukraine stay in place. Georgian diplomats were advised to evacuate their family members to leave the country if they wished so,” the Ministry said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on February 21 recognizing the independence of Ukraine’s two separatist regions Donetsk and Luhansk, sending Russian troops there to “maintain peace”. Due to this situation, some countries have suspended their embassies in Kyiv and evacuated staff.
