Georgian Deputy Interior Minister engages in bilateral talks at International Migration Review Forum
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, attended the Second International Migration Review Forum, where he held a series of bilateral meetings with his international counterparts.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Darakhvelidze convened discussions with the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Armen Ghazaryan; the Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan, Mirlanbek Baigonchokov; the Head of the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan, Vusal Huseynov; and the Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of Serbia, Natasha Stanisavljevic.
“During these engagements, the participants examined ongoing cooperation between their nations in the field of migration, as well as future initiatives aimed at further strengthening existing relations,” the Ministry stated.
Deputy Minister Darakhvelidze highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs to combat illegal migration. He also outlined recent legislative amendments aimed at bolstering asylum procedures and expulsion protocols, noting that these reforms have enhanced Georgia’s capacity to manage migration flows.
Furthermore, the meetings provided an opportunity to explore prospects for future collaboration, including the exchange of experience and best practices,” the statement concluded.
