Georgian Defence Minister pays official visit to Armenia

Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani is paying an official visit to Armenia.

Suren Papikyan, Defence Minister of Armenia, hosted his Georgian colleague and engaged in reviewing cooperation and regional security issues during the face-to-face meeting.

Irakli Chikovani thanked his Armenian counterpart for the support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the two defence ministers centred their conversation on peace and stability in the region. Irakli Chikovani welcomed the U.S.-mediated Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement and underscored that it would significantly contribute to long-lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.

An expanded meeting between the delegations of the two countries was held afterwards to discuss existing and future cooperation issues between the Georgian and Armenian defence ministries.

Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani will meet Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan within the framework of his official visit.
