Georgian and Slovak Presidents pay tribute at Gate of Freedom Memorial
The Presidents of Georgia and Slovakia laid wreaths at the Gate of Freedom Memorial in Devin, honouring those who lost their lives attempting to escape communist Czechoslovakia between 1945 and 1989.
The memorial, inaugurated in 2005, stands as a powerful symbol of freedom and victory.
President Mikheil Kavelashvili was in Devin, accompanied by a Georgian delegation, which included Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament; Giorgi Zurabashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Konstantine Kvachakidze, Georgia’s Ambassador to Slovakia; and representatives from the Office of the President of Georgia.
