Georgia enforces stricter controls on vehicle emissions starting September 4
The visible emissions from motor vehicles on the roads in Georgia will be subject to control as per amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, starting from September 4, 2023. The Department of Environmental Supervision reported.
Mobile teams from the Department of Environmental Protection and Environmental Supervision of Agriculture will conduct this control using tools under government decrees and established norms.
For individuals, a first-time violation will result in a fine of 100 GEL, with the fine increasing to 300 GEL if the violation is repeated within 15 days. For a repeated violation 15 days after the last fine, the penalty is 600 GEL.
Legal entities will be fined 500 GEL for the first offense, 1500 GEL for the second offense, and 3000 GEL for the third offense.
Attempting to evade emissions control carries the same penalties. If the fine is paid within 10 days, a 20% reduction is applied to the amount.
