Georgia and Spain collaborate in international operation, arresting 13 suspects
Law enforcement officials from Georgia and the Kingdom of Spain have jointly arrested 13 individuals as part of the international operation CACHABA, conducted across Spain. The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has confirmed this development.
According to the ministry, the operation was carried out in close cooperation with the Georgian Police Attaché and followed a year of intensive coordination between law enforcement agencies of both nations.
“As part of the investigation, it was established that members of the criminal group were responsible for 27 apartment burglaries across various regions of Spain. It was revealed that the group comprised two separate factions: Georgian nationals, who directly carried out the burglaries, and a Spanish branch, which handled the sale of the stolen goods in different cities,” the ministry stated.
Law enforcement officers from both countries conducted simultaneous raids in Madrid, Valencia, Guadalajara, and Alicante, targeting nine locations.
“The investigation is ongoing under Articles 510, 301, and 570 of the Spanish Criminal Code. The offences carry a maximum penalty of up to eight years’ imprisonment,” the ministry added.
