Georgia and Portugal agreed on cooperation over circular labor migration
Portugal is ready to cooperate with Georgia in the field of circular migration. This issue was discussed during the meeting held between Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Portugal in Lisbon.
According to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Portuguese side expressed readiness to cooperate with Georgia in connection with legal employment. A Georgian delegation will visit Portugal in the near future to determine the further steps of cooperation.
As Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani noted, development of cooperation in the field of circular migration in the EU member states is a priority for Georgia. After France, Portugal will be another EU member state, which will sign a relevant agreement with Georgia allowing a certain category of Georgian citizens to work legally in the country.
It was noted that this will be a good opportunity for the Georgian specialists to work and improve their qualifications, and the agreement will facilitate regulation of migration processes.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Georgia is actively cooperating with EU Member States in the field of labor migration. As it is known, the Agreement signed between Georgia and France on the residence and circular migration of qualified specialists has already come into force.
