General Prosecutor’s Office responds to statement by TBC Bank founders

The Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office responded to the statement made by TBC Bank founders Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.

“Given the high public interest, we would like to respond to the false information disseminated by Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, who were accused of legalizing illicit income.

In connection with the information disseminated by the defendants regarding the so-called closed-door meeting, we would like to clarify that no meeting is scheduled at the indicated time. However, international organizations, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia and other interested parties will certainly be familiarized with the conclusion prepared by foreign experts of the highest qualification, ” – reads the statement released by Prosecutor’s Office.

The General Prosecutor’s Office noted that the investigation into the case will continue objectively, transparently and in accordance with international practice.

Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze have released a statement today.  As the statement notes, they have information that the Prosecutor’s Office invited representatives of the diplomatic corps to a closed meeting scheduled for September 6 to present a report prepared by foreign experts hired by the Prosecutor’s Office.
