GD’s Mdinaradze: No obstacle to Georgia’s EU path, despite opposition from Deep State and EU bureaucracy

“There is no argument against Georgia’s accession to the European Union, as it remains our most reliable partner. However, as you can see, this is not in the interests of the Deep State and European bureaucracy,” stated Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority, chairman of the Georgian Dream faction, and executive secretary of the Georgian Dream party.

Mdinaradze made these remarks while discussing several indices published by the European Commission as part of the Good Governance 2025 report.

According to Mdinaradze, the European Commission harbours an unfair political bias against Georgia, which manifests in attacks on the country and, in turn, fuels local agents aligned with these interests.

“Despite Georgia faithfully fulfilling its obligations and making progress across all areas, the Deep State and European bureaucracy are imposing demands and criteria that are completely misaligned with Georgia’s national interests, demands that are detrimental, unacceptable, and incompatible with our national identity.

We once again emphasise that when the European Commission’s actions reveal unjust political motives, they attack Georgia and bolster their domestic allies. Conversely, when their assessments are based on objective data and criteria, they must acknowledge that Georgia is leading the region. Our progress in both democratic and economic spheres is truly impressive.

We will continue to act in this spirit, always prioritising the interests of Georgia and its people,” Mdinaradze affirmed.
