GD’s Matikashvili: West imposes sanctions on Russia, but in need of fuel, avoids sanctions
“The Russian Federation is involved in war, and large-scale sanctions are imposed on it. However, when the West requires fuel, it simply avoids these sanctions,” said Davit Matikashvili, a member of the Georgian Dream (GD) party.
According to Matikashvili, direct communication took place between the US and the Russian Presidents, resulting in the global community gaining the opportunity to receive a certain amount of fuel from Russia.
“This happens when Georgia is groundlessly accused of bypassing sanctions. For us, this accusation was an attack on Georgia and the Georgian people.
Based on the results of all specific monitoring conducted in Georgia in this regard, the country has been vindicated. A different picture emerges when analyzing cases where the world itself requires various types of fuel and enters into favourable deals with Russia on terms acceptable to them,” he said.
