GD member Givi Mikanadze: Some people envy relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia

“I think that many countries are watching with interest how Georgia and Azerbaijan are increasingly deepening their interaction with each other in all areas. Some people look at this with discontent and envy, but that is their business,” said Givi Mikanadze, the Chairman of the Georgian delegation to the NATO PA, Chairman of the Georgian Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Youth in an interview with Caliber.Az.

According to Givi Mikanadze, the situation in Europe will soon change dramatically and a lot can change for Georgia with Trump’s return to the White House.

“We understand very well what obstacles Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people face, just as you understand what obstacles we are facing now. Therefore, I think that many countries are watching with interest how Georgia and Azerbaijan are increasingly deepening their interaction with each other in all areas. Some people look at this with discontent and envy, but that is their business. And we know that in history there were empires that captured half the world and ruled over gigantic territories and peoples, but today you will not find them on world maps. And our relatively small countries and peoples were able to maintain their independence and survive because we have always been tuned to those values and those special traditions that supported our identity and originality.

By the way, in a number of European countries, not only in Hungary and Slovakia, but also in Germany, the right-wing forces have already had their say. The same processes are taking place in Austria and France. That is, we see that the right-wing forces, which are primarily aimed at supporting national priorities, self-identity, are gaining more and more strength and support, and the left-liberal forces that oppose our countries are losing their power.

So, I think, the situation in Europe will soon change dramatically. Also, a lot can change for us with Trump’s return to the White House, his views and approaches have a lot in common with the position of the Georgian Dream,” he said.
