A high-ranking parliamentary delegation from Georgia’s ruling party, Georgian Dream, is currently on an official visit to China, engaging in a series of strategic meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, according to the Parliament’s press office.

During the visit, the Georgian lawmakers held multi-sectoral meetings with representatives of the Communist Party of China, the National People’s Congress, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCTIP), the municipal authorities of Shenzhen, and leading Chinese tech companies.

The Georgian side emphasized the country’s status as “a key geostrategic hub, serving as a vital link between Europe and Asia along the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor.” Since 2022, the functional importance of Georgia’s transit infrastructure has grown significantly, with a reported 30% increase in cargo turnover.

The Parliament also noted that “For China, strengthening ties with Georgia offers an alternative route to European markets.”

Among the key objectives of the visit are the consolidation of inter-party cooperation, and the advancement of Georgia-China strategic partnership across various sectors including education, agriculture, and economic collaboration. These efforts, according to the Georgian Parliament, align with the country’s socio-economic interests and underline its commitment to acting as a bridge between East and West.
