GD Chair says those supporting Saakashvili's simulated illness should apologize

Irakli Kobakhidze, the ruling Georgian Dream party chair, has called on individuals who knew about Mikheil Saakashvili’s simulation and still demanded his release to apologize to Georgian society.

Kobakhidze suggested that Saakashvili’s apparent “recovery” could be explained by a miraculous event or ECHR court decision, adding that he thinks “the reason is the Strasbourg decision”.

“There was a 600-day political campaign, during which Saakashvili’s supporters repeatedly claimed, and even convinced many, that he was dying every day. This was merely a simulation that misled both the public and international partners,” he asserted.

Additionally, Kobakhidze believes Saakashvili has no chance in politics.

“The recent events have revealed Saakashvili’s true face. When an individual engages in a 600-day simulation, his credibility becomes incredible. Therefore, regardless of where Saakashvili chooses to return, it is evident that he has no chance in politics,” Kobakhidze stated.

On June 16, jailed ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili declared his plans to actively participate in Georgian politics.
